Nate Mondschein has been composing, performing, recording, producing, writing about and obsessing over music for the better part of 27 years, and plans to continue doing so for as long as he possibly can. Born in Western Massachusetts, based briefly in Queens, and now happy to be back in his hometown, Nate brings to each of his musical endeavors a passion for emotive performance, a producer's ear for arrangement and detail, and an unending commitment to the pocket.

As a drummer, producer, bassist, session musician and songwriter, Nate has performed and recorded across the northeast with a variety of acts, most notably as a founding member of Neo-Indie-Fusion-Soul Fourtet, Trot Fox. His work spans a vast array of genres, from Motown to Hip-Hop, Indie-Pop to Jazz, Folk to Future-Soul. He currently plays bass for Western Mass Indie/Blues/Folk four piece, Old Flame

As an educator, Nate has worked with students of all ages and levels of experience, always emphasizing the importance of an expansive musical vocabulary and refined technique as facilitators of creativity, while utilizing investigations into musical history and canon as means to inspire novel exploration and creation. He currently teaches 7th and 8th grade music at Amherst Regional Middle School.

Nate is also an avid writer, poet and spoken word performer, whose work can be found in a variety of online publications and journals, including Talking Comic Books, Kurrent Music, and Union Station Magazine. His first collection of poetry, The Ostrichwas released in the fall of 2012.
